How to schedule Medium Stories
- Get a Medium integration token. Create one from your Medium security settings, if your account still offers them. Medium decides who can create tokens and owns that screen. If your account cannot create one, the connection cannot be made.
- Connect Medium. On the calendar page choose Add Channel, then Medium. Paste the token into API key and save. Your name and avatar appear on the channel.
- Write the story. Choose Create Post and select the Medium channel. Enter the title and subtitle, each at least two characters, and write the body in Markdown.
- Add settings and schedule. Optionally add a canonical URL, choose a publication and add up to four tags. Pick a date and time and choose Add to Calendar.
What you can publish to Medium
A Medium story needs a title and a subtitle, and PostDelegate asks for both so a scheduled story is never missing one. The body is written in Markdown, up to 100,000 characters, with optional tags (up to four) and an optional canonical URL for stories that first appeared elsewhere.
Where the story ends up depends on one setting. With no publication selected, it is published publicly on your profile. With a publication selected, it is sent to the publication as a draft, so an editor can review it first.
- Connect from Add Channel with a Medium integration token.
- Write the title, subtitle and Markdown body in the composer.
- Optionally add tags, a canonical URL and a publication.
Medium post settings
| Setting | Notes |
|---|---|
| Title | Required, at least 2 characters. |
| Subtitle | Required, at least 2 characters. |
| Canonical URL | Optional. Use it when the story first appeared elsewhere. |
| Publication | Optional. Choose one of the publications you can post to. |
| Tags | Optional, up to 4. |
Before connecting
- The connection needs a Medium integration token. Medium decides who can create tokens, so some accounts cannot connect.
- A story sent to a publication arrives as a draft for an editor, not as a published story.
Read the Medium guide in our documentation for connection steps, post settings and troubleshooting.
Plan Medium with the rest of your channels
Medium sits on the same calendar as every other channel you connect. In one post you can pick several channels, write the content once and adjust it for each, and every channel keeps its own settings. Save a draft to review a post first, choose Add to Calendar to schedule it, or choose Post now to send it immediately. The scheduling guide covers drafts, repeats, previews and time slots.
Use Claude or ChatGPT with Medium
PostDelegate runs an MCP server, so an assistant you already use can look at your Medium channel, read its rules and create a draft for you to review. AI is bring-your-own, and PostDelegate never charges for it. Setup guides: Claude, ChatGPT, and what a social media MCP server is.
Review the whole post
Check the destination, wording, media and time before scheduling. Look at the result in your workspace after publication; a queued item is not a published-post confirmation.
