These tools are not competing for the same job
Most comparisons on this site are between two schedulers with overlapping network lists, where the question is price and workflow. This one is different, and it is more useful to say so than to force a table into shape.
Typefully is a writing environment. Its six networks — X, Bluesky, LinkedIn, Threads, Mastodon and Substack — are the ones writers use, and the product is organised around drafting, threading and scheduling text, with X analytics to see how it landed. PostDelegate is a scheduler across 18 networks today, including video, blogs, developer communities and chat platforms, with approvals and a media library.
The overlap is Bluesky, Mastodon and, eventually, LinkedIn and Threads once those approvals come through. If your publishing is threads on X, Typefully does that and PostDelegate cannot do it at all. If your publishing is a YouTube video, a DEV.to post, a Discord announcement and a newsletter, Typefully does not reach those.
Pricing, and the thing to watch
Typefully does not sell monthly billing. Creator is $99 a year and marked annual billing only; Business is $18 a social set a month, billed yearly; and there is no monthly toggle on the page. That matters for a comparison, because the honest answer to "what does it cost a month" is that you cannot buy it a month at a time.
It also does not price by social account. The billable unit is the social set — the accounts belonging to one person or brand — and the number of accounts a set holds is not published, only that limits vary by plan. So the cost tables that appear on our other comparison pages are absent here on purpose: the arithmetic cannot be done from Typefully's own pages, and we do not publish competitor numbers we cannot source.
What is clear is the free plan. One social set, one user, ten posts a month, and — unusually — the API and MCP server included. For a single writer testing the idea, that costs nothing at all.
Where the two genuinely agree
On agents, these are the two most open tools in this comparison set. Typefully puts its API and MCP server on every plan including Free, with setup guides for Claude, ChatGPT, Notion, Claude Code and Cursor. PostDelegate puts its REST API, webhooks and MCP server on every plan, and adds a review inbox so drafts an assistant wrote wait for a person before publishing.
The difference is scope rather than access: an assistant driving Typefully is writing and scheduling text for six networks; one driving PostDelegate is scheduling to 18, including video and long-form, with an approval step in front of it. Both are reasonable places for an AI assistant to work, and neither is holding the capability back for a higher tier.
Where Typefully is the better pick
- You write threads on X — PostDelegate cannot post to X at all.
- You want a writing environment first, with X analytics to see how a thread performed.
- You publish to Substack, which PostDelegate does not support.
- A single writer who wants a real free plan, with API and MCP included, rather than a trial.
Where PostDelegate fits
- Your publishing reaches past six networks: video, blogs, developer communities, chat platforms or a newsletter.
- You want to pay monthly rather than a year up front.
- You need approvals, client review links or team members.
- You want the price to be legible per channel rather than per social set.
What to check before choosing
- Whether the exact accounts you manage can connect and publish today.
- The monthly total for your real number of channels and people, not the headline price.
- How you want to pay for AI: included in the plan, or on your own key.
- How approvals work for your team and your clients.
- The support, subscription and data-handling terms of each service.
