Campaigns and the ideas board

Label posts with campaigns, content pillars and tags, filter the calendar by them, and keep post ideas on a board until they are ready to schedule.

Open Ideas from the main menu. The page has two tabs: Ideas board for ideas that do not have a date or a channel yet, and Campaigns & pillars for the labels you put on posts and ideas.

Campaigns, pillars and tags

There are three kinds of label:

Content pillarsThe recurring themes you post about, like tips, behind the scenes or customer stories.
TagsAny other label for your posts.

Create one

  1. Open Ideas, then the Campaigns & pillars tab.
  2. Choose Add in the Campaigns, Content pillars or Tags list.
  3. Pick the Type, enter a Name and pick a Colour. You can type a hex colour, like #7357FF.
  4. Add a Description if you like, then choose Save.

Use Edit to change a label later. Deleting one keeps the content of posts and ideas, but they lose the label.

Use them

  • On posts. Add a campaign, pillar or tag from the tags in the composer. Its colour shows on the calendar cards.
  • On ideas. Pick one in the idea’s Campaign, pillar or tag field.
  • Filter the calendar. Choose Filter by campaign or tag on the calendar and pick from Campaigns and tags. The calendar’s Filters menu lists them next to your channels.
  • Compare results. The By tag or campaign insight in Analytics shows how each label’s posts did.
  • Bulk import. A CSV file can set labels in its tags column. See Bulk import from CSV.

The ideas board

The board keeps post ideas in one place before they have a date or a channel. It has three columns:

Add an idea

Choose New idea, or the add button at the top of the Ideas or Drafting column. Fill in:

  • Title, required, up to 200 characters.
  • Notes: a draft, links or angles to try. The notes become the post text.
  • Media: up to 10 files from your media library.
  • Campaign, pillar or tag.

Then choose Add idea.

Move ideas along

Drag an idea to another column, or use its Move to menu. Use the board’s campaign filter, All campaigns and tags, to show only the ideas with one label.

Turn an idea into a post

Choose Use in a post on an idea. The composer opens with the idea’s notes as the text and its media attached, at the next free time slot. Pick the channels, adjust the post and save it. Once the post is saved, the idea moves to Used.

You need at least one connected channel to turn ideas into posts.

Edit or delete

Choose an idea’s title to edit it. Choose Delete idea to remove it. Deleting an idea does not touch posts made from it.
