Evergreen posts

Share a post again on a schedule, stop after a number of shares or on a date, and rotate through different wordings.

On this page

Evergreen posts are shared again on a schedule, so good content keeps working. Each share can use a different wording.

Evergreen builds on Repeat Post Every in the composer (see Repeating posts). A repeating post is already shared on a fixed interval. Evergreen adds a way to stop and a set of wordings to rotate through.

Make a post evergreen

  1. On the calendar, point at a scheduled post or a draft to show its actions.
  2. Choose the repeat icon, Make evergreen. The Evergreen post window opens.
  3. Under Share again every, enter a number and pick Days or Weeks. The interval can be from 1 day to 1 year.
  4. Under Stop sharing, pick one:
    • Never, keep sharing.
    • After a number of shares, from 1 to 100 re-shares. The first publish does not count.
    • On a date. Choose the Last day, which must be in the future.
  5. Optionally add Other wordings. See below.
  6. Choose Make evergreen.

A repeating post shows its interval on the calendar, for example “Evergreen: every week” or “Evergreen: every 3 days”. Choose it to open the same window, change the stop rule or wordings, and choose Save.

Other wordings

Add up to 10 other wordings with Add a wording. Shares rotate through the original text and these versions, in order: the first publish uses the original, the next share the first wording, and so on, then back to the original.

  • Wordings are plain text only.
  • Each wording must fit the length limit of every channel on the post. A wording that is too long is refused with the channel’s limit.
  • Wordings change the text only. Media and channel settings stay the same on every share.

What you can change later

ChangeBefore the first shareAfter the first share

Stop ruleYesYes

The window shows how many times the post was shared again so far and the dates of the next shares.

Stop sharing

Open the evergreen window and choose Stop evergreen. The post will not be shared again. Shares that already went out stay on the calendar.

A post that has finished re-sharing, because it reached its number of shares or its last day, cannot be restarted. Duplicate it to share it on a new schedule.

What cannot become evergreen

  • A post that was already published without a repeat interval. Duplicate it and make the copy evergreen.
  • A post that failed to publish. Fix it and schedule it again first.

If a share fails to publish, the chain of shares stops. Fix the post and schedule it again.
