How to post to Telegram from Claude
- Add PostDelegate to Claude. In Claude open Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector. Name it PostDelegate and paste the server URL below. Choose Add, then Connect, sign in to PostDelegate and click Authorize.
Server URL
https://app.postdelegate.com/mcp-oauth-dynamicCustom connectors depend on your Claude plan and, on team plans, on what your organisation allows.
- Connect Telegram in PostDelegate. In Telegram, add @PostDelegateBot to your channel or group. In a channel, make it an admin that can post messages; only admins can post in channels. Use the Telegram app on your phone or computer for this, because the web version does not let you make a bot a channel admin.
- Ask Claude for a draft. Describe the post in plain words. Claude checks your Telegram channel's rules, creates the post and sends back a preview link.
Teach Claude the posting rules
Add the PostDelegate skill to Claude so it knows the posting rules before it writes: download the skill zip and upload it under Customize, then Skills, with code execution turned on. Agent files has the steps.
What to ask Claude
Mention any Telegram setting in plain words and Claude fills it in. Start with something harmless, like asking which channels you have.
- Draft a Telegram announcement for our channel about tonight’s maintenance window, then show me the preview link.
- Schedule a reminder in our Telegram group for Friday at 18:00: “Live Q&A starts in one hour.”
What Claude can do on your Telegram channel
- Check the rules first. Before writing, it reads your Telegram channel's length limit (4,096 characters) and required settings.
- Draft, schedule or post. It creates a draft, a scheduled post or an immediate post, and runs the same checks as the app.
- Use your media. It attaches files from your media library or adds one from a public link.
- Review and fix. It lists what is scheduled, changes the Telegram settings of a post that has not gone out, and deletes posts you no longer want.
Telegram channels are a direct line to an audience, and groups are where communities talk. PostDelegate sends each scheduled post as a message from @PostDelegateBot, so announcements, links and media go out at the time you set without anyone online to press send.
Telegram settings Claude can fill in
| Setting | Notes |
|---|---|
| Text | Up to 4,096 characters. With an attachment, Telegram limits the caption to 1,024 characters. |
| Attachments | Photos, videos or other files. Up to 10 items per album; more are sent as further albums. |
Before you start
- Channels need @PostDelegateBot as an admin that can post. Telegram's web version cannot appoint a bot as channel admin, so use the phone or desktop app for that step.
- Posts come from @PostDelegateBot, not from your own Telegram account.
The Telegram channel guide has every field, and MCP tools lists exactly what an assistant can and cannot do.
