How to post to Telegram from ChatGPT

Add PostDelegate to ChatGPT. In ChatGPT open Settings, then Connectors, then Create. If you cannot create one, look for a developer mode switch under advanced settings, or ask your workspace admin. Name it PostDelegate, paste the server URL below and choose OAuth. Choose Create, then Connect, sign in to PostDelegate and click Authorize.

Custom connectors depend on your ChatGPT plan and workspace settings, which OpenAI controls.
Connect Telegram in PostDelegate. In Telegram, add @PostDelegateBot to your channel or group. In a channel, make it an admin that can post messages; only admins can post in channels. Use the Telegram app on your phone or computer for this, because the web version does not let you make a bot a channel admin.
Ask ChatGPT for a draft. Describe the post in plain words. ChatGPT checks your Telegram channel's rules, creates the post and sends back a preview link.

What ChatGPT can do on your Telegram channel

Check the rules first. Before writing, it reads your Telegram channel's length limit (4,096 characters) and required settings.
Draft, schedule or post. It creates a draft, a scheduled post or an immediate post, and runs the same checks as the app.
Use your media. It attaches files from your media library or adds one from a public link.
Review and fix. It lists what is scheduled, changes the Telegram settings of a post that has not gone out, and deletes posts you no longer want.

Telegram channels are a direct line to an audience, and groups are where communities talk. PostDelegate sends each scheduled post as a message from @PostDelegateBot, so announcements, links and media go out at the time you set without anyone online to press send.

Before you start

Channels need @PostDelegateBot as an admin that can post. Telegram's web version cannot appoint a bot as channel admin, so use the phone or desktop app for that step.
Posts come from @PostDelegateBot, not from your own Telegram account.

Questions

Will ChatGPT publish to Telegram without asking me?

Not unless you ask it to. Ask for a draft and the post waits on your calendar until you schedule it, and your workspace's approvals apply as usual. Tools that change data are marked as such, so ChatGPT can ask you before it schedules or deletes anything.

Do I need an API key to connect ChatGPT?

No. ChatGPT signs in with your PostDelegate account through your browser. An API key is only for clients that cannot sign in, as described in MCP clients.

Does it cost extra to use ChatGPT with PostDelegate?

Can ChatGPT attach images or video to a Telegram post?

It can use files already in your media library, or add one from a public link. It cannot fetch files from your computer, so upload those in the app first, or through the upload widget where ChatGPT shows it. See MCP tools.

Do I need to give PostDelegate my Telegram password or phone number?

No. You add @PostDelegateBot to your channel or group and send a short connect command there. PostDelegate never asks for your Telegram login.

Why can't I add the bot as a channel admin on Telegram Web?

Telegram's web version does not offer that option. Open the Telegram app on your phone or computer, make @PostDelegateBot an admin of the channel, then finish connecting from PostDelegate in any browser. Groups can be connected from the web.
