ChatGPT drafts it. You approve it. PostDelegate posts it.WordPress: Posts or pages with categories, tags and a featured image.
How to post to WordPress from ChatGPT
- Add PostDelegate to ChatGPT. In ChatGPT open Settings, then Connectors, then Create. If you cannot create one, look for a developer mode switch under advanced settings, or ask your workspace admin. Name it PostDelegate, paste the server URL below and choose OAuth. Choose Create, then Connect, sign in to PostDelegate and click Authorize.
Server URL
https://app.postdelegate.com/mcp-oauth-dynamicCustom connectors depend on your ChatGPT plan and workspace settings, which OpenAI controls.
- Connect WordPress in PostDelegate. In WordPress open Users, Profile, Application Passwords and create one for a user who is allowed to create posts. Some hosts and security plugins turn application passwords off.
- Ask ChatGPT for a draft. Describe the post in plain words. ChatGPT checks your WordPress channel's rules, creates the post and sends back a preview link.
Teach ChatGPT the posting rules
Paste the PostDelegate instructions into a custom GPT or a Project, with the connector enabled there, so ChatGPT follows the posting rules in every chat. Agent files has the steps.
What to ask ChatGPT
Mention any WordPress setting in plain words and ChatGPT fills it in. Start with something harmless, like asking which channels you have.
- Draft a WordPress post in the News category with the tags launch and product, and the featured image from my media library.
- Schedule this as a WordPress page, status Publish, for Monday at 9:00.
What ChatGPT can do on your WordPress channel
- Check the rules first. Before writing, it reads your WordPress channel's length limit and required settings.
- Draft, schedule or post. It creates a draft, a scheduled post or an immediate post, and runs the same checks as the app.
- Use your media. It attaches files from your media library or adds one from a public link.
- Review and fix. It lists what is scheduled, changes the WordPress settings of a post that has not gone out, and deletes posts you no longer want.
PostDelegate talks to your site through the WordPress REST API with an application password, a built-in WordPress feature. Your login password is never used. The post type, status, categories and tags are loaded from your own site, so you choose from what actually exists there.
WordPress settings ChatGPT can fill in
| Setting | Notes |
|---|---|
| Title | Required, at least 2 characters. |
| Post type | Required. Choose from the types on your site, such as posts and pages. |
| Status | Publish (the default), Draft, Pending or Private. |
| Categories | Optional. Loaded from your site. |
| Tags | Optional. Loaded from your site. |
| Main image | Optional featured image. It is uploaded to your media library. |
Before you start
- The site must be reachable from the internet with the REST API turned on, and the user needs a role that can create posts.
- A security plugin or server setting that blocks the REST API or strips the Authorization header makes WordPress reject the login.
The WordPress channel guide has every field, and MCP tools lists exactly what an assistant can and cannot do.
