Bluesky character limit

A Bluesky post can have up to 300 characters.

How this counter counts

Bluesky counts graphemes, the characters you see, so an emoji or a flag counts as 1.

Bluesky image sizes

Image	Size	Notes
Post images	No size published	Up to four images per post.

Bluesky does not publish recommended pixel sizes. PostDelegate scales an image down before posting it to Bluesky if the file is larger than about 1 MB.

Questions

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. The image is read and resized by your browser on your own device. It is never uploaded, and nothing is saved after you close the page.

Where do these Bluesky sizes come from?

Bluesky does not publish a recommended size for images in posts, so the post preset uses a common shape.

What is the difference between cover and contain?

Cover fills the whole size and crops what does not fit. Contain fits the whole image inside the size and fills the leftover space with a colour you choose.
